usualy dl380g4 worked with two single-core xeon processor mPGA-604 socet.

i can use ONE dual-core (like SL8MA) processor in dl380G4 server (read manual) but in manual not saying about using TWO dual-core processor.

can i use TWO dual-core processor (like SL8MA) in dl380 G4 server?

I found on quickspecs

"Introducing the ProLiant DL380 G4 SAS model with the latest Dual-core Intel Xeon Processors with Hyperthreading technology for maximum application performance." but for the newest SAS models (I dont know your model)

also this
"Dual-core Intel Xeon Processor 2.8 GHz/800MHz-2x2MB L2
NOTE: This kit is not backwards compatible, existing systems cannot be upgraded."

so that is for the newest servers

2) I search "dl380r04 dual-core" and find, that HP pn 397630-421 is sonfig whit two dual-core processor:

Depending on the model, DL380 G4 will support :

Dual-core procesors:

* Dual-core Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz/800MHz -2x2M L2 cache processor


Option Part # 397645-B21
HP X2.8/800 2M DL380/ML370 G4 Kit

Also note :
If 2 processors are desired, select one 378750-L22 and one 378750-B21 unless High Performance Model features are sought. If HPM features are desired, select one 378750-L22 and one 382616-001.
