There are no other drives in this environment.
The only version of SmartStart I have is 4.80, so I have created System Configuration Utility (SCU) v2.58A diskettes.
When I run it, SCU says "An error occurred while trying to access the fixed disk" while trying to create a System Partition on the Single-Drive disk array. This is a REALLY vague message if ever I saw one.
The ProLiant 5500 BIOS ROM is flashed to the Nov/08/2000 version, and the Smart-2/P ROM is flashed to v4.50 (Both are the latest version).
So, any idea why SCU can't create a System Partition on a Logical disk on a Smart-2/P controller?
Regards, Wesley.

SolutionWhat other HW do you have in the system?? Is it possible that the HDD may be faulty?? The array configuration utility exists on the Smart Start CD therefore, you dont have to worry about the Array configuration. Just make sure that the boot controller order is set properly in F10-System Partition.

Re: Can't create System Partition on Smart-2/P Logical drive?
I guess something was 'confused' in there, and this has now resolved it.
Sunil, you have my SINCERE THANKS for you work this Sunday evening (Sunday Morning where you are).
Kindest regards, Wesley.

Re: Can't create System Partition on Smart-2/P Logical drive?
If you don't have one, then Janine Bertolo has the answer when on Jan 10, 2003 at 18:12:07 GMT she said:
A blank text file named SPD.INI on a floppy is all you need for a Server Profile Diskette.
Use any text editor to create it and there you have it!

Re: Can't create System Partition on Smart-2/P Logical drive?
That's corrct. But sometimes you have trouble creating one. Here is the link and you can download it:
