cannot add unused space to logical drive

I have a Smart 2/P controller with two logical drives and 30GB of unused space on the array. I would like to use the unused space to expand on of the two logical drives but I am not given the expand option anywhere in the array config utility. Can this be done or am I just not going to the right menu?

Thanks,
Thanks,
Diego

Hi Tato,

Check the following forum if this helps.

In the ACU we donot have the option I feel. You might need to use diskpart to extend the logical drive.

Re: cannot add unused space to logical drive

I am afraid you have misunderstood my problem. The free space is not yet showing to the OS. The free space is at the Array A level. Array A currently has two logical drives and free space. I need to add the array's free space to a logical drive on the array before the OS see it. Once I get the OS to see it I can expand a drive using diskpart or other 3rd party tools.

Re: cannot add unused space to logical drive

Since there is more than one logical drive in the Array logical drive, the free space can not be 'added' to Array A, you would need to create a third logical drive so the OS can see it. Otherwise, you will nedd to backup, delete and reconfigure the array, then restore to get what you want.

Re: cannot add unused space to logical drive

Will it work if I simply delete the second logical drive then add the freed space of the second logical drive and the unsused to the one logical drive that is left? Or do I have to delete BOTH existing logical drives?
