Cannot log in iLO3 with HPE_c02159872_HP ProLiant DL380 G7 Server

I've inherited an HPE_c02159872_HP ProLiant DL380 G7 Server using an iLO3.

I have reset the iLO configuration (according to the manual instructions) from the hardware terminal. My understanding this would reset the iLO password to what appears on sticker on the hardware case. The iLO is connected to a confirmed active network cable, and I'm able to get to the web login page for the iLO (through IE only*) - however, unable to get logged in.

I've tried both users: Admin and Administrator (capitalized and not) with the password from the sticker on the case, but I get an access denied.

Is there a default password (other than what's on the case?)
Is there some other way to forcible set the iLO3 password?

*NOTE: That ONLY IE will connect to the iLO3 - since the newer browsers use unrecognized security layers. I'm don't think this is related to the issue, but I'm not excluding anything.

uses an unsupported protocol.

...however the login also does not work with ssh using ...

ssh -oKexAlgorithms=+diffie-hellman-group1-sha1 -oHostKeyAlgorithms=+ssh-dss Admin@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

It asks for the password, but the password fails.

Hello, have you tried this:

Re: Cannot log in iLO3 with HPE_c02159872_HP ProLiant DL380 G7 Server

Hi,

Thanks for the links. Unfortunately it didn't work - but I've accepted it as a solution, since I can't go into the office to try opening the case right now (pandemic rules.) I'll try that again once the office opens up.

To ask one stupid followup...

The username (after reset) sould be "Administrator" - correct? I have tried to login (after the above reset) using both IE and SSSH, and using both "Administrator" and "Admin" (based on different areas of the manuals. )

Can you confirm this is - indeed - the correct default username?

Hi,

Unfortunately - I get an administrative error when attempting to hit either of those links. I've submitted a support ticket.

Can you perhaps briefly summarize the pertinent parts (if still applicable.)

Correct, that's the default username.

This is the link to the server's quickspecs with the part numbers.

However, now that you submitted the support ticket, if HPE determines that a hardware replacement is required, they'll have it already and will dispatch it inmediately.

iLO is embedded on the system board, so you might need to replace the whole System Board.

If the systemboard was replaced in the past already, the default password won't match the sticker.

However, press F8 during boot when ILO appears and set a new password.

Hope this helps!

But I'll check anyway
