CD-Rom not Bootable
Hello All,
Curious if there are any suggestions to the following:
The CD-ROM drive on my DL-580 does not recognize a bootable CD. I used Compaq System Diagnostics to attempt to test the CD-ROM drive, and it reported a media error.
However, using a DOS boot disk with a CD-ROM driver, I am able to read a CD-ROM in the drive.
We tried swapping the CD-ROM drive and CD-ROM itself to no avail. Do you think this is a firmware problem needing an upgrade or a possible damaged IDE controller?
Thanks,
Ken

Re: CD-Rom not Bootable
Hi Ken,
Did you try to use any OS CD to boot up from the CD Rom.If you did and the same result given I think you shuold contact compaq.
another thing is the diagnostic it show media error is because inside the drive did not have a CD so reading fail.
But the way did you try to upgrade or flash the rompaq for your server. If you already did it and still have the same problem. I think you should contact compaq.
