Cloning DL320 with smart array 431
I am trying to get set up for cloning a DL320 with a smart array 431 card. I build out the source image in the server, to do so it seems the array controller wants to call the drive a raid 0. Once I build out the server, I then remove the drive and try to ghost it using ghost 7 in another box with a Adaptec 19160 scsi card, Ghost does not even see the drive. I also tried to see if there was a way to add a second drive and make a RAID1 config and take the mirror drive and use that. No luck there either. Is there a way to clone these drives in this box with the 431 controller? Thank you for any help anyone can give.

Re: Cloning DL320 with smart array 431
Hi,
This problem is caused by the nature of ghost operation. When ghost tries to clone drives it seems to do that on a partition and filesystem level, not on the block level. Therefore if you create a raid array, then remove the drive(s) from the raid controller and try to clone them, ghost will not see anything on the drives behind the raid configuration data. If you want to use ghost you should carry the drives to the cloning station with the SA431. This controller supports DOS operation and will provide access to its logical drives from DOS-based programs like ghost.
Hope this helps.
