We need to install a PCI HBA in a Compaq ML530 server. We have a free pci slot. This slot is 64 bits / 33 Mhz, which is right, but in the quickspecs of the server apperars as "5 volt or universal cards".
The HBA that we had to install only works to 33 Mhz at 3.3 volts.
Does anyone knows if the free slot of the server ("5 volt or universal card") can work at 3.3 volts?
Thanks!

Hi,
unfortunately a 3.3V card will not work in 5V slot - it will not physically fit.
From physical view, the 3.3V slot is 5V slot, rotated at 180 egrees. They are keyed differently. In other words if you plug the card in , the external port will be in the server, and you can't plug nothing in it...

Re: Compaq ML530 pci voltage
thank you for the answer, we'll look for a compatible hba (5v).
