Compaq System Shutdown Service

I am trying to figure out why my 1600 shutdown unexpectently (event id#6008). No other events showed any data to help me. Could you please explain what the "Compaq System Shutdown Service" does and whether I need this to be enabled? The server has 512m ram, 2 9.1 gb drives mirrored in duplexing drive cage & has the redundant power supply option. SSD 2.22A, E34 rompaq 4.08 revA and sys cfg 2.53a is installed. Thanks, Jim

Re: Compaq System Shutdown Service

When you restart a computer running Windows NT after it has been shutdown using a utility (such as Shutdown.exe from the Windows NT resource kit) or method that calls the InitiateSystemShutdown() API (for example, remote shutdown), the following error message may appear in the Windows NT Event Viewer System log file:

Event ID: 6008
Source: Event Log
Description: The previous system shutdown at time on date was unexpected.

It appears a remote shutdown was issued. This could be from CIM XE, CIM Console, etc. The remote shutdown can be disabled for Compaq Insight manager in its configuration
