ComPaq W2000 Support Paq
I have downloaded the latest version of the above for my Proliant ML330.
I am unsure how this interacts with the Microsoft Service packs ... or if indeed they are related
Do I apply the Support pack before or after the MS service pack
thanks
Dave

Re: ComPaq W2000 Support Paq
I always apply sp3( or the preceding sp's in the past) and all other relevant hotfixes, then i install smartstart as xml parser is required and needs to be installed seperately if you don't install ie6 and sp3 first. Then install SmartStart and tell it to overwrite all existing drivers if you have included drivers from windows update. Then i install whatever server software (ex: sql) and service pack it!
This dosen't mean its the only way but this is how i've always done it.
Hope that helps

Mike thanks for your reply
I am fairly new to this and a little confused by some of the terminology you used
" then i install smartstart as xml parser is required and needs to be installed seperately if you don't install ie6 and sp3 first. "
could you please expand on the above
Thanks
Again

Re: ComPaq W2000 Support Paq
We practice the process of applying Microsoft Service Packs and then follow this with the Compaq/HP Support Paq.
Beware though, if the server is a new model with an ATI Rage XL PCI video card, there are NO up-to-date drivers included in any of the downloadable support paqs.
