Re: Compatible GPU for HP DL380p Gen8 Server
Hi @Galvatron ,
I just upgraded to a MSI GeForce GTX 1650 4GT LP in my Gen8.
Lots of folks already had 1050`s but this is quite the performance boost.
It does require some modification at the back.
The MSI comes with a low profile slot. but even then I had to Dremel a bit to get it to fit.
I could post some pictures if you`re interested.

Re: Compatible GPU for HP DL380p Gen8 Server
Hi just reading this thread and wondering if after replacing the GPU you have the same issue as myself in that the fans run constantly at 54%. Doesnt matter what GPU i put in my DL380e G8 they all make the fans kick in. Is there a workround to stop this so i could install a better GPU.
Thanks

Re: Compatible GPU for HP DL380p Gen8 Server
Youre going to have this happen regardless. It is how the system is designed, and by adding a GPU the machine will require increased cooling. There are two ways to solve this, one being that iLO firmware hack that will allow you to adjust the fan curves and the second method is using a microcontroller to create a PWM controller to run the fans. Neither of these are something I'd reccomend to someone unless they have some experience and are able to troubleshoot effectively. That said, this is an enterprise grade server and not a home theater PC. It requires cooling, and like most other servers, it will be loud. Just as I wouldn't buy a Tesla Model 3 to take offroading in the woods, I wouldn't buy an HP Proliant expecting to keep it in my bedroom.

Do yours run at 52 % fan speed and how did you power the GPU? Thank you

Using MSI afterburner software. Fan is at 30/40% when on regular desktop work.

Re: Compatible GPU for HP DL380p Gen8 Server
Pictures.
Now that I know that the GPU works I would have modified the bracket instead of the case. (And yes I could have tested it without a bracket
Take the full size bracket off
Put the small sized backet on.If you do decide to take a dremel to the case remove the motherboard, metal filings and PCBs don't play nice together.
The bottom of the bracket wouldn't go in properly. So I had to make some room there too.
Doesn't leave much room but works great!
As you can see at the bottom right, it also needs space there.
