Could not boot ML NT server
We are facing a problem when rebooting an ML windows NT server.
Below the displayed error messagewhile restarting the machine.
"Attempting to Boot From CD_ROM
Attempting to Boot From Floppy Drive (A)
Attempting to Boot From Hard Disk (C)
A kernel file is missing from the disk
Insert a system disk and restart the system"
I tried to implement the following procedure Q155892 recommanded by Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q155892
Ithis article, the fisrt step to be made is:
1.Boot Microsoft Windows NT from floppy (using the NTLDR on the floppy disk)
But, I wonder what is NTLDR ?
Is there any simple way to make this NTLDR floppy?
Thanks for your help
Regards

Re: Could not boot ML NT server
You can simply copy three NT boot files on a floppy from another NT system. these three files are: NTldr, NTdetect.com and Boot.ini. boot.ini conatins information about in which logical partition the OS is installed, so you have to edit boot.ini to boot up successfully your system. This task will be very easy if you have a same server with same SCSI/ RAID card & same HDD partitioning, you can then simply copy the boot.ini from that system to the floppy.

Re: Could not boot ML NT server
I tried to put the three files (NTldr, NTdetect.com and Boot.ini) of another server in a floppy disk, and I put this floppy disk in a the blocked server, but it still does not boot !!!
I do not know if the floppy disk should have a special format ?
Thanks for your help

Re: Could not boot ML NT server
I'm not working on NT from a long time (touched an NT system 1&1/2 yrs back :) ), but I think there is no spacial format, you just put a blank floppy in another server, copy these three files ( through DOS console), edit boot.ini and boot your old server, that's it!
