cpqissm error ID 9 in event viewer
The day before yesterday the System event log started filling up with this error [which I put at the bottom of this message]. I called in and I was told that this is a driver issue, but that does not make a lot of sense to me because this server has been chugging along with out this error for months, and we did not change any drivers.
Does anyone have any idea what it means or what conditions cause the error?

Firmware and drivers are latest, but problem persists.
Any idea how to solve this?

Re: cpqissm error ID 9 in event viewer
1. Applied Microsoft Patch 883646
2. Installed HP Support Pack 7.51
3. Upgraded the Smart Array 6404 firmware to version 2.68a
4. Installed the new 6404 cpqcissm driver - version 5.70.0.32
Now a 19gig database backup which took 30 minutes, and gave the "Event ID: 9 -- cpqcissm" errors, backs up in 6 minutes. And the errors have stopped.

Re: cpqissm error ID 9 in event viewer
I have the same error on a DL380G4 with one additional SA6402/128 (with 512MB cache upgrade) an Windows 2003 R2 Standard (incl. SP1, which includes the mentioned patch) but my colleague already has installed version 5.72.0.32B of the controller driver and the actual firmware (2.68A).
Additional there is the following warning in windows eventlog:
"SCSI bus fault occurred on Storage Box box 0, , Port 0 of Array Controller in slot 1.
This may result in a "downshift" in transfer rate for one or more hard drives on the bus."
Has somebody the (still) same problem?
thank you!
Clemens

Re: cpqissm error ID 9 in event viewer
Issue:
"SCSI bus fault occurred on Storage Box box 0, , Port 0 of Array Controller in slot 1. This may result in a "downshift" in transfer rate for one or more hard drives on the bus"
Solution: You might have put disk with different speeds (ex: SCSI drive with ultra320 and wide ultra2 scsi etc)..
If the disk speeds are differnt you will get a "downshift" Error.
