CPU and Memory upgrade on Proliant ML350G6
Greetings,
I am planning on upgrading a Proliant ML350G6 server and add an additional CPU and some memory.
Unfortunately the HP memory configuration tool just made me more confused so I hope someone here can help me.
The server curretly have:
1x Intel Xeon 5620
4x SPS-DIMM 8GB PC3L-10600 Dual-Rank (606427-001)
3x SPS-DIMM 4GB PC3-10600R (595424-001)
(and 2x spare SPS-DIMM 2GB PC3-10600R (501533-001))
I would like to add another Xeon 5620 and some additional memory, 8-16GB
The memory confugurator suggested I buy 500202-061. My question is: are these memories compatible with my current ones?
And what would be the best and most low-cost solution for a 2xCPU server with ~60GB of RAM

Re: CPU and Memory upgrade on Proliant ML350G6
Hi,
This document should help you Configuring Memory.
500202-061 is the assembly part number for 501533-001, DIMM, 2GB PC3-10600R,128Mx8 module.
Thank You!

Re: CPU and Memory upgrade on Proliant ML350G6
Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
Say I purchase 2x 500662-B21 (since my current 8GB modules can no longer be bought). Will they be compatible with my current memories?
If they are then from the link you posted this would be the most optimal setup if I have understood it correctly?

Re: CPU and Memory upgrade on Proliant ML350G6
I'm not as familiar with the ML series compared to the DL models, but there may be a limit of 4 ranks per channel, so keep an eye on that. And populating all 3 slots may reduce the max speed. If that's important to you, then size the individual models so you get the memory size you want without having to populate all 3 slots per channel.
Also, the way slots get populated in each channel is specific. In general, you start with the slots closest to the CPU and the lowest ranks, with the highest ranked modules furthest away.
Again, the quickspecs for your model will help, as will the memory "cheat sheet" on the server's cover.
