CPU Upgrade DL385G2 possible
Has anybody done a CPU Upgrade for a DL385G2 DC 2218 to 2*QC 2356 ?
According to QuickSpecs this should be possible, but did not find any further reference
Partnumber reference to DL385G5 only
AMD Opteron Processor 2356 (2.3 GHz, 75 Watts) Option part: 449774-B21 and
AMD Opteron Processor 2352 (2.1 GHz, 75 Watts) Option part: 449776-B21

Re: CPU Upgrade DL385G2 possible
If the parts are in the QuickSpecs then they should work. The DL385G2 and G5 have the same chipset and BIOS, so there's no reason it can't support the QC procs. Just be sure to update the System ROM to the latest version before installing the new processors.
Oddly enough, the G2 and G5 system boards have different spare part numbers, but the chipset is the same. The only real difference I can find is the G2 only supports 32GB of RAM, while the G5 can handle 64GB. That and the x16 PCI-e risers are different.
