CRC Errors

I am receiving CRC errors with the following configuration when attempting a 1GB/S connection (100MB/S connection is fine). I am able to get a link between the two devices but no communication is present (unable to ping server.) I have tried changing the cabling and also manually configuring the ports instead of Auto.

ML530 server w/ NC7131 NIC
3Com 3824 switch
Cat5e cabling

Has anyone come across this issue? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: CRC Errors

Hi Dino,

Not entirely sure, but assuming your cables are definitely ok for GBit connection (plus you have mentioned about link-connection was ok but produced CRC error), the first thing popped in my head is the setting of Full-Duplex...

Can you confirm both devices are manually set for the same speed and Full-Duplex (etc)? It may be ideal to do a shutdown on devices' NICs and then re-enable them.

Also, if you have privilge access to 3com Switch, it may be ideal to manually set the gigabit interface to Full Duplex at the same speed too.

Cheers
