Defective HPE MR416i-a Gen10 Plus - scam or real?
I recently got an email below fromJared Rubi at HP notififying me that HP is willing to replace the controller at no cost. How can I confirm if this is legit? I was working with a HP engineer on a different issue and when I asked if he can find Rubi in the company directory he was not able to find it.
Recently, an issue affecting a very limited number of HPE MR416i-a Gen10 Plus controllers (Option Part Number P26279-B21) was discovered by HPE., This issue may cause the controller to encounter the following error condition after an unexpected shutdown due to an issue with a component on the controller. If this issue occurs, the following Power-On Self-Test (POST) error message is displayed:
Slot XX Storage - Controller write cache data has been lost ACTION:
- No action is required if unprotected write back enabled
- Check for loose energy pack and controller backup power cable
- Replace energy pack if failed
- Update the controller firmware
- Restore data from backup.
HPE has identified the serial numbers of systems that shipped with affected HPE MR416i-a Gen10 Plus controllers. Our records indicate that you have twelve of these systems in your environment.
HPE is contacting you to take the required steps to validate if you have affected controllers, and if so, we will make arrangements to proactively replace the affected controllers at no cost to you..
