Disk expansion using Array Controller Utility on Smart Array 5300 Controller
Dear Support,
Is it possible to expand an array on a Smart Array 5300 Controller (with Compaq DL380 G2) without losing the data on the current array (option Expand Array / Logical Drive)?
Thanks for your quick answer.
Regards
Thomas

Re: Disk expansion using Array Controller Utility on Smart Array 5300 Controller
Thomas:
The ACU (Aray Configuration Utility) allows you to expand your Arrays and Logical Drives "on-the-fly", usually without any dataloss. Though I have never had an expansion "gone wrong", it is always safe to have a full backup of your data.
With that said, you can add drives to your array without dataloss, swap out smaller drives with bigger drives without dataloss, expand/extend arrays, logical drives and OS partitions without data loss (easily in Windows OS).
