Disk temperature warnings

I have a server that is getting repeated Temperature warnings in the event log:

Description:
Sensor 1 of the external storage device on SCSI port 1 of the Compaq Integrated Smart Array Controller is reporting the internal temperature has exceeded the preset limit. The controller may attempt to shut down power to the storage device and/or spin down the installed hard disk drives.

The condition keeps correcting and re-occurring. The event in the Integrated Management log reads: "Internal Storage System Overheating (Slot 0, Zone 1, Location Storage, Temperature Unknown)". The event count is up to 7000.

Would someone from support be able to let me know what is meant by "Zone 1". The machine has two 18 GB drives in the internal drive bay.

Re: Disk temperature warnings

I'm getting the same thing. Have you found a solution? I called Compaq once and they had no idea. I replaced the RAID controller and the problem still occurs. I have 4 18GB drives. I have them configured as two RAID mirrors in the internal drive baby.

Event Source: CPQCISSE
Event Category: None
Event ID: 24589

Re: Disk temperature warnings

I need help now. I saw this thread a while back. The problem is my server has both power supplies installed. DOES ANYONE FROM COMPAQ KNOW WHAT CAUSES THIS?

If you are using 15,000 rpm hard drives it will be necessary to install a second power supply. Even if you are not using 15K HDD you may astill have to install a second power supply. This will help in the overall cooling of the server. The only way to view the temperature is through Insight Manager.
