Display Resolution is bad, how to upgrade
I have compaq proliant 1850R server. It has a very bad display resolution at screen area 1152x864. It can display this screen area only at 256 colors. I want it to display using True Color. How can I upgrade the display adapter.
The adapter details are :
Adapter Type : ATI Technologies Inc. Rage II PCI
Driver Date : 10/5/2000
Driver version : 5.0.2195.3249
Thanks
Amit

Re: Display Resolution is bad, how to upgrade
There is no way to upgrade the resolution on this server. It is only a 1MB. The only way to upgrade this is to use a 3rd party video card. No promises that this will work.

Re: Display Resolution is bad, how to upgrade
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. The existing video card is built into motherboard. How can I disable it and use a third party video card instead ?
Thanks
Amit

Re: Display Resolution is bad, how to upgrade
Please make sure the 3rd party video card is NOT installed presently.
Go into the F10 partition. Sys Config. Add boards. Here you will have to create a new CFG file. Please make sure you enter the proper info, memory address, what slot it will be in, etc. Save and exit. Now install the card in the slot you have specified. With the case still being open look for a bank of switches (SW1) should be near the SCSI connector. Turn OFF switch number 1. This will turn off the on-board video.
Good Luck.
