DL140 cmos battery replaced, now no longer detects hard drives
Hello gentleman
I got a DL140 G2 that was running windows with the harddrives configured in raid1.
After a reboot it said that the cmos battery was empty and the bios lost its settings so i decided to replace the battery.
After doing this the hard drives are no longer recognised in the bios or by the sata controller.
During normal boot the sata controller says that there is no logical partition and when i go into the setup bios it does not show the hard drives.
I triple checked connection from the controller to the hard drives and these seems to be correctly connected.
I also tried a lot of settings in the bios but i was not able to fix my problem
In the following imgur gallery i made some photo's of the server and the bios settings:
Could you help me out please?

Re: DL140 cmos battery replaced, now no longer detects hard drives
IIRC this server has the RAID setting in BIOS. By changing the battery you probably reset the BIOS to defaults, what causes to change the mode obviously. Go into BIOS and check/adjust the RAID setting.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: DL140 cmos battery replaced, now no longer detects hard drives
Hello Torsten,
As far as i have found i can only enable raid under advanced > advanced chipset control.
I have done this (see screenshots), and then during the boot proces it shows that it is loading the controller and i can enter it by pressing F8.
However in the controller it again does not detect my hard drives.

Re: DL140 cmos battery replaced, now no longer detects hard drives
It doesn't look like the built-in controller?
The SATA connectors of the built-in controller are left to the CPUs on the board, IIRC.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Hi torsten.
I never ment the onboard controller but the card that is in the slot as you can see on the picture,
I am not sure what kind of card it is but it did function last monday before i changed the cmos battery.
would u suggest for me to remove this card? i am not sure if i can stil get RAID1 to work without.

Re: DL140 cmos battery replaced, now no longer detects hard drives
If the disks are connected to this card, you need to investigate this card, not the onboard controller.
Any option during POST?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: DL140 cmos battery replaced, now no longer detects hard drives
Hi Torsten,
Thanks for all your help, for some reason the sas controller is now found by the motherboard and i can access during booting.
My hard drives are now found again and windows boots.
Only now one of my RAM cards is not found, it only finds 10gb of RAM while i have 6x2GB installed.
All the banks seem to be correctly installed on the board.
Even on the screenshot i have posted at the beginning of this forum post it shows 12288 MB but now it ony shows 10240MB
