DL160 G8 - Second CPU - System Power Fault
Hi All,
I've started receiving a no-boot condition on one HP DL160 Gen8.
I have diagnosed through substitution that the error is only present when TWO CPUs are installed.
This appears to be common in the Gen8 range, I have seen many other posts in the community where servers stop booting with a second CPU installed, however none of them match the Error ID I have.
It would be really wonderful if someone (@SunhilSingh ?) could run their magic decoder on my error code, and let me know where to look.
Here's what I've done:
a) Reset CMOS.
b) Updated BIOS, ILO
c) Swapped CPU into other chassis - CPU is good.
d) Tried spare CPU in faulty chassis - fault remains
e) Tested all RAM in other chassis - RAM is good
If I pull the 2nd CPU, the machine will run okay.
The error code in full is as follows:
System Power Fault Detected (XR: 3C 00 MID: FE 3C 9C 24 F0 FF 00 15 15 00 00 00 40 3F 00 20 00 00 85 00 F0 03 70 43 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00)
It would be very much appreciated if anyone can help me and tell me what this means.

This seems to be a system board issue.
Can you confirm the CPU were swapped within the server and if the fault followed the CPU or the slot?

Yes, the fault remains in the socket / location.
Were you able to decode the error coding for me?
