DL20 Gen 10 - Which HW options are required to add M.2 NVMe Boot Capability

Hi,

My system =  Proliant DL20 Gen10 (P17078-B21)

Question:

1. Which HPE hardware options must I purchase to add M.2 NVMe Boot capability to my Proliant DL20 Gen10 system?

From the DL20 Gen 10 Quick Specs I understand the HPE Universal SATA 6G AIC HHHL M.2 SSD Enablement Kit (878783-B21) as well as a compatible HPE SSD drive such as the HPE 240GB SATA MU M.2 2280 DS SSD (875488-B21) are required.

Are any additional HPE hardware options required to enable the use of the M.2 NVMe SSD(s) for operating system (in this case Windows Sever 2019) boot on the DL20 Gen 10?

Clarifying my earlier question-----

I  would like to run the OS on the onboard M.2 NVMe 2280 and leave the disk drives for file storage.

The referenced DL20 Gen 10 QuickSpecs are a little confusing to me, specifically in regards to exactly what additional hardware options are required to allow OS Boot from onboard M.2 NVMe 2280 cards.

If I would like the system to OS Boot from an HPE 240GB SATA 6G Mixed Use M.2 2280  SSD   (875488-B21) , looking at the QuickSpec (QS) seems to indicate I require;

HPE Universal SATA HHHL 3yr Wty M.2 Kit (878783-B21 ). -   (QS page 25)

HPE DL20 GEN10 M.2 SATA LFF Aroc Cable Kit (P06683-B21) -   (QS page 25.  "M.2 SATA Cable kit")

HPE DL20/ML30 Gen10 M.2/Dedicated iLO and Serial Port Kit (P06687-B21).  -   (QS page 20, bottom of page)

Can someone at HPE please confirm these three option items are all that is required to allow OS Boot from the internal M.2 NVMe 2280 drive (875488-B21).

If there is something I missed or if I listed too much please let me know.

I have a few years of IT experience, but no history with HPE hardware or SW, so please excuse my lack of knowledge.

Thank you for your query.

Since you are using planning to use PCI based M2 Enablement Kit .

You need following parts:-

HPE Universal SATA 6G AIC HHHL M.2 SSD Enablement Kit  878783-B21

M.2 SATA Cable kit (P06683-B21)

This Kit can Handle Two M.2 Drives as per the specifications.

While connecting the Kit and cable you need to refer to DL20 Gen10 User Guide:-

For installing the card on the server:-  Page number 82 Onwards

For Cabling Information:-  Page Number 115 Onwards

DL20 Gen10 could direct installl nvme card to mainboard.

Also you could install other two M.2 NGFF SATA SSD in PCIE slot with a kits.

I plan to install them both.

Hi everybody. I would have my Proliant DL20 Gen9 (not 10) boot from NVME. I have mounted SAMSUNG 870 EVO on my server with kit 878783-B21, but I can't have my ssd listed in system info (F9) or in Controller B140i report (System utilities) . Is there anything I have to do other then install card and ssd as described in maintenance guide https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=c04903922 at pag.92?
