DL20 Gen9 Storage Option
Hi,
I plan for the deployment of an DL20 Gen9 as a VMware ESXi 6.5 host. Having a lot of experience with DL360 G6-9, I am completely new with the DL20.
As the B140i dumb array controller comes wih certain performance limitations, I wonder i fthere is a cheap upgrade path to a Smart Array Controller. P440 is quite costly, but P410 can be bought at an attractive cost point.
Both P410 and DL20 documentation do not make specific notes about compatibility, that's why I would like to hear about experience from the field.
- Is it possible firmware/functionility-wise?
- Can I reuse existing cabling from 2LFF non-hotplug backplane?
- Will it be able to integrate with the DL20 96W battery option or is it easier to integrate the P410 original battery option?
Someone able to comment?
BR, Uwe

Re: DL20 Gen9 Storage Option
The P410 is not a supported controller for the DL20 Gen9. A lower cost option than the P440 would be the H240 controller

Re: DL20 Gen9 Storage Option
Hi Jimmy,
thanks for you reply. Indeed the P410 is not a supported solution, but it may be one that works. But that needs to be found out.
BTW: It doesn't seem like the H240 supports VMware ESXi. https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04496620
