DL320e Gen8 V2 - Status Code 0168

Hello there o/ ,

It all started with buying a DL320e Gen8 V2 without RAM , seller claimed and provided screenshots of POST phase. When it arrived I ordered some 8 GB ECC DDR3 RAMs to install but after trying got "Status Code : 0168" followed by blank screen at 30% " QPI Link " phase.

Google search indicated RAM slot issue, usually people say that it's solved after installing RAM properly or cleaning RAM/slot which I tried with no result. Then thought it might be due to BIOS being old ( dated 2017 ) and got another 2 GB RAM to test.

Thanks but no thanks to my luck all RAMs are HP , 8 GB ones are 647651-081 and 2 GB one 501533-001 , I read people using with random brand RAMs so I suspected if it's because they're HP but not the right ones.

Meanwhile tried to reset BIOS by switch 6 , never got a confirmation about it but after then it takes longer to boot, a 10-15 seconds is just for no apparent reason before actually booting.

Finally decided ILO , I upgraded ILO to latest version but didn't let me to upgrade BIOS ( Ready for the next update error ) , actually no main or backup ROM is apparent at ILO. Half of diagnostics are unavailable as needs POST and system health seems OK but occasional power state switches of ON to RESET with constant buzzer "click?"

So I'm not sure if it's a RAM issue and if I can get non HP RAMs ( as RAMs listed at quick specs for this model are too expensive )  or something different.

I'd appreciate any help , thanks in advance.

Hi SpaceDawg,
1) Remove all the DIMMs and install only minimum required DIMMSper processor in proper slot.
Refer the RAM installation detail mentioned on the Access panel of the server.
2) Do Power flash again by removing CMOS battery, hold power button for 10-15 secs, then insert CMOS battery again
3)  If you are able to boot, please run the latest version of compatible SPP. so that all the firmware and drivers can be installed.
4) Run the Memory diagnostic. Let us know if any error message you get.

Following are some of the supported DIMM models. Please refer the quickspecs for more information.
