DL360 & External Modem

I seem to be having an issue with a DL360 a US Robotics 56k modem. I've connected the modem to the COM port on the back of the server, installed the correct driver. When I look at the modem via device manager and query the modem I get told that it cannot be contacted. I've also tried this modem on another server and get the same message.
I've test this modem on an XP machine and it installs and works fine. Does anybody know if there are any issues with external modem and DL360's. Cheers,

First I Try to connect any serial device in this port, then you can see if the serial port is ok.
Also it´s possible that modem was hang.
Operating System?
