DL360 G10 - "Automatic Operating System Shutdown Initiated Due to Overheat Condition"
This server was repurposed recently and fitted with new disks last week.
The system just shut down while I was trying to find out why the fans were running at full speed.
Error message "Automatic Operating System Shutdown Initiated Due to Overheat Condition".
So i checked the Temperatures and it reports 63°C for the sensor !
12-HD Max SystemBoard 11 0 Critical 63C Caution: 60C; Critical: N/A
This is totally wrong, as I ran this commands just a minute before it shut down. And I went to physically check after the shutdown and the disks were cold.
root@prox7:~# smartctl -a /dev/sdo | grep Airfl
190 Airflow_Temperature_Cel 0x0022 085 080 040 Old_age Always - 15 (Min/Max 14/16)
root@prox7:~# smartctl -a /dev/sdm | grep Airfl
190 Airflow_Temperature_Cel 0x0022 085 080 040 Old_age Always - 15 (Min/Max 15/16)
root@prox7:~# smartctl -a /dev/sdn | grep Airfl
190 Airflow_Temperature_Cel 0x0022 085 079 040 Old_age Always - 15 (Min/Max 15/16)
Why is the server reporting such wrong temperatures?
These are the drives:
root@prox7:~# lsblk -o +MODEL,SERIAL,WWN | grep ST5

Re: DL360 G10 - "Automatic Operating System Shutdown Initiated Due to Overheat Condit
Hello,
To isolate the issue, please remove any third party equipments, replace empty hard drive slots with bezels and see how it helps.
Install one component at a time and power on the server to isolate to component(s).

Re: Query: DL360 G10 - "Automatic Operating System Shutdown Initiated Due to Overheat
Well, I removed the 2.5" 4 disks and everything is fine. I added some 3.5" disks to the D3600 that is attached, as this accepts non-HPE disks just fin.e
This will be the last HP system we purchased, too much hassle. Impossible to use generic hardware and no workarounds.
