DL360 G4 won't start

Hi all,

We just received a used DL360 G4 server (it wasn't on for almost a year).
We plugged the power cord in, and we saw the amber light on the power switch and the fans started in a silent hum. When we pressed the power button, nothing happened, the server won't power up.
On the rear we can see that the green light on the power supply is off.
We opened the case and in it we saw that system diagnostics lights CR25-28 are lit and CR21/CR22 are constantly flashing.
We unplugged the power cable to the motherboard and replugged the server power cord. This time the fans started noisier and then phased to a hum, the green light on the power supply is now lit. Ofcourse the server won't start as we disconnected the power cable to the motherboard.

Any ideas of what could be wrong and how to fix it?

Regards,
Tzach.

Hi all again,

Any help in interpreting the system diagnostics LED (link to a document) would be great, as I can't find any.

Tzach.

All DL360 G4 system board LEDs are described in this doc:

Re: DL360 G4 won't start

Hello Modris,

Thank you for the link.
I already seen this link. I need to interpret the system diagnostics led (number 13 in the list). The manual points me to the HP Remote Lights-Out Edition II User Guide. I searched that guide but couldn't find any mention of how to interpret the led.

I don't know, which manual you looked at, but the one I found at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00553302/c00553302.pdf , page 188, has something on some LEDs. Maybe those are the ones you need. If not - have you tried accessing iLO itself? It should be possible even without server being actually powered on (connection to power supply is needed though).
