DL360 Gen 9 w/P440AR 8 SFF
Can I use a P440AR 8 SFF to create 2 mirrored raid pairs ( 1 for the O/S and 1 for the data )? If not, could someone recommend what I need to purchase.

Re: DL360 Gen 9 w/P440AR 8 SFF
Please see attachment of 8 SFF for HP DL360 G9 server:
Yes, you could do it.
RECOMMENDATION:
Since OS is already mirrored with drive 1 & drive 2 (when you look at the picture numbered 1 & 2 on the left) i would not waste a spare hard drive. Instead create RAID 5 for the remaining disk 3, disk 4, disk 5, disk 6 & disk 7. Make disk 8 as SPARE.
NOTE:
WITH mirrored disk 1 & 2 you can make disk 7 as SPARE (it's your call).
BRING UP/BOOT THE SERVER THRU BIOS AND WATCH THE POST UP:
ONCE the Smart Array P440ar showed up wait for and HIT F5 it will go to the Smart Array Configuration.
CLICK, Smart Array then Configuration to Create Array
All hard drives will show up.
Choose Disk 1 and Disk 2 (mirror RAID 1+0)
SAVE
the go back to Configuration to Create Array
Choose Disk 3, Disk 4, Disk 5, Disk 6, & Disk 7 (RAID 5)
BEFORE SAVING, Click, Disk 8 as SPARE
SAVE
NOW YOU HAVE 2 LOGICAL HARD DRIVES
MIRRORED Disk1 & Disk 2
and
RAID 5 with SPARE
BELOW ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF HARD DRIVES
