HI all,
I have a DL360 G8 which is displaying this message when it boots. Any idea where it comes from and where I can get the firmware flash to get rid of it ? Have tried the usual places..
Regards

I'm receiving the same error on a DL360p Gen8. Did you ever find a resolution?

Re: DL360p G8 post message 261 - Server Platform Services Firmware Flash
Hi All,
I am receiving this error on some (not all) BL460c gen8 servers within the same c7000 chassis. All firmware has been flashed with SPP 2015.10. and Intelligent Provisioning has been updated to 1.62b. Functionality of the blades reporting this error seems fine. Has anyone figured out a fix to get rid of this POST eror?
Many Thanks.

Re: DL360p G8 post message 261 - Server Platform Services Firmware Flash
You need to update this component:
It is included in the current SPP 2016.04 too.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: DL360p G8 post message 261 - Server Platform Services Firmware Flash
Hi all,
I just run into the same issue and the only thing that worked for me was the following:
Scenario: DL380 G8 with V2 CPUs.
1. swap to V1 CPU
2. Swap the current ROM to backup ROM
3. Update the system to be able to use V2 CPUs booting from hp-ivb_update-1.70-4.iso
4. likely the message will dissappear. If does not, then update using SPP (continue using backup ROM)
5. swap to the main ROM and install V2
Problem will be solved.
Thanks!

Re: DL360p G8 post message 261 - Server Platform Services Firmware Flash A FIX.
The only solution that worked for me was pretty long winded but heres the (last resort) process:
I removed two ROMS at location U163 BIOS and U149 ME from a working system board (BIOS date P73 05-21-2018).
I then copied these using a Dataman -48PRO2C EPROM programmer and saved the binary files.
I removed the same ROMS from the faulty system board and erased them.
The two saved binary files were programmed onto the blank ROMS and fitted back onto the system board.
The error was cleared from POST.

Re: DL360p G8 post message 261 - Server Platform Services Firmware Flash A FIX.
Hi everyone,
just to let you know that i managed to do pretty much the same, but i had no need to flash the Bios ROM as well, i am describing the procedure here : https://community.hpe.com/t5/proliant-servers-ml-dl-sl/ml350-gen9-with-quot-post-error-261-quot-after-flashing-new-me/m-p/7222245/thread-id/188320/highlight/false#M188331
For the one that prefers to keep Bios ROM untouched like me, otherwise doing both chip is of course working as well.
On my side i used the programmer TL866 II+, looks to be cheaper than the one you used here, but still supports the MX chips used on our motherboards.
By the way, pay attention that the 2 chips aren't exactly the same, one is double the size than the other, don't mix them up.
Cheers.
