DL380 Auto Start Up

We have 22 HP DL380 servers and we want to disable the auto start up function so that if there is a power failure the servers DO NOT start up again once the power supply has retured. Basically we want the servers configured so that if they are turned off, either in a controlled manner or erratically, an engineer will have to press the power button before the server powers up.

I have disabled the auto power up options in the Bios and in System Properties.

any ideas??

so you did on BIOS and is still not working????


if so update to latest System ROM and latest ilo firmware and try again also you can disable the automatic power on Ilo browser

Hi Daryl,
It seems that for what you want to do, you need to do the following in the RBSU (bios):


Server Availability ASR Status
Power Button
Automatic Power-on

The ASR disabled, If the server halts it will stay, freeze, etc in that screen and not shut down.

Automatic Power-On disable, if power is removed and applied the server will not boot back up.

which generation are they?

Dl380 G5? G4? ... ? or a mix ?

I think I've about a similar issue but I need to do more research

all of them are G4's

I've seen a lot of posts on how to turn this feature on but not one on how to turn it off!

and doing the reverse of how to turn it on doesnt work..

Afraid I cant get precise details but these servers were fully updated about 2 weeks ago..

if its any use we are running win server 2003x64 on them.

I've just discovered that changing the auto-start options in the BIOS and in System Properties only effects the server if a controlled shutdown has taken place, But not if the server is shutdown abnormally, i.e power failure.

I have spoken to HP's tech service and apparently this feature can not be switched off
