DL380 G3 On-Board SCSI Controller

there is a few of my school HP Proliant DL380 G3 On-Board SCSI Controller is spoiled or damage, I already bought Smart Array 6402/128 SCSI controller card to replace, and it contain 6 SCSI HDD set as RAID-5, if I didnt remove the SCSI HDD, i install the SA6400 and connect them using SCSI cable on the SA6400, can it affect to the data lost or not?
