Re: DL380 G4 Server OS upgrade
I have a DL380 G4 server running MS Windows Server 2003. I was thinking of upgrading to Windows Server 2008. Before I do this I was wondering if there were any issues or problem such as any ROM, Bios or other server side upgrades that should be done or can I just install the new Server OS? I don't see this OS being listed on compatibility matrix for this hardware but wasn't sure.

Re: DL380 G4 Server OS upgrade
Hi Dan,
HP OS compatibility matrix does not list dl380 g4 server for windows 2008 that means HP has not tested this environment on this platform and won't be able to provide any support if required.
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/windows/index.html#matrix
So, you may test this environment your own.
few recommendations :
make sure you have latest bios and other firmware on this server.
remove any 3rd party hdd
remove any external devices connected
install from windows 2008 CD directly. Windows 2008 OS should have generic smart array controller driver integrated.
for other drivers you may have to explore from vendor site directly.
thanks,
aftab
