DL380 G7 - Can't add second CPU
I have a DL380 G7 server with 1 E5620 processor. When I try to add another E5620, when I power up the server, all the fans turns but the server won't boot.
I have tried both CPU in socket 1 and they are both the same and working.
No bend pins in socket 2....

Re: DL380 G7 - Can't add second CPU
Did you install the fans 5 and 6 and memory for the second CPU?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: DL380 G7 - Can't add second CPU
I would now connect to ILO and check the status and logs from there.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: DL380 G7 - Can't add second CPU
I did that, can't see nothing.
I have flip dip switch 6 to clear NVRAM, reset BIOS via RBSU...
What else can I try ?
Since they are 2 sockets, I assume I can install second CPU...

Re: DL380 G7 - Can't add second CPU
According to the user guide you need to add the same type cpu, memory, heatsink and fans, that's it. I would at least try minimum memory, no PCIe options etc.
Is all green in ILO status and really nothing in IML and ILO logs? Is the second CPU and memory shown there?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: DL380 G7 - Can't add second CPU
Same EXACT problem here with a DL360 G6. New second CPU does not let system boot/post. If I take it out. It is fine. If I put it in the Socket 1 it is fine. So long as there is a CPU in socket 2 the system refuses to boot/post. No video signal, ILO says Proc 2 "unavailable" in System Information.
I tried resetting the NVRAM, did not help. I really hope someone figures this out, as we'd really like to have the 2nd processor working on this system.

Re: DL380 G7 - Can't add second CPU
If I recall, he CPU's must be the same stepping version or it won't boot
