DL380 G9 no logos/checkboxes during post, no RAID boot
Got a strange one here. Have a DL380 G9 that when it posts, does not show any of the usual logos (after switching to primary video) and doesn't show the array of checkboxes at the lower right (Agentless management, sea of sensors, SmartArray, ILO, battery, etc). The blue progress bar at upper left does show, but not the normal "HP Proliant" text above. And, the p440ar ROM doesn't come up (no Fx prompts).
The system ROM, ILO, and p440ar firmware are all current. No cards are populated in the primary riser. Secondary riser is not present. Two 600GB SAS drives are populated in the bay 1 8SFF cage and are configured in the p440ar as a RAID 1.
The system happily boots from the micro SD card, ILO virtual ODD, physical ODD. Options to boot from the array on the p440ar are not even shown in the UEFI boot order.
On the system maintenance switch block, all switches are in the "off" position. I've tried going into the ROM and conducting a manufacturer's reset, didn't change anything.
So, I'm kinda stumped at this point. Anyone ever seen this or have any idea what's going on?

Re: Query: DL380 G9 no logos/checkboxes during post, no RAID boot
Unfortunately those links did not address the issue.
Further, I disconnected everything from the motherboard except the front right-hand power/insight connection - pulled the primary riser, p440ar, storage battery, drive cage power, and optical drive/usb connections. No change, same symptoms.
Any further ideas? Things to check?

Re: Query: DL380 G9 no logos/checkboxes during post, no RAID boot
Here's an example of what it should roughly look like:
Here's what I'm actually seeing:
Notice how the "HPE Proliant" text, gradient, upper left logos, and lower right checkboxes are all missing.
Any ideas what else to check/try?

Hi,
Strange, I personally have not seen such issue.
But here is what you can try:
Clear NVRAM:
How to Clear the NVRAM from the System Maintenance Switch
Clearing NVRAM, Activating Redundant ROM, Switching Between UEFI And Legacy Boot Modes
Thank You!

Re: Query: DL380 G9 no logos/checkboxes during post, no RAID boot
What I would do first is to reset the board and iLO to factory settings. I had some pretty strange behaviour fixed that way. Also check the CMOS battery. Whan these are flat, they can cause strange issues. If all that doesn't help, do the firmware update again (manual force option on). This will update the backup ROM and swap the two ROM sections...

Re: Query: DL380 G9 no logos/checkboxes during post, no RAID boot
Booted system with monitor attached (just in case an ILO issue)
- No change
Booted system, entered F9, navigate to ILO4 settings, factory reset, YES, reboot
- No change
Powered off system, set S6 on, powered on, received message on screen reset underway, when prompted powered system off, set S6 off, powered back on
- No change
Current system ROM P89 v2.92 dated 11/23/2021
Backup system ROM P89 v2.60 dated 05/21/2018
Swapped ROMs from v2.92 to v2.60
- No change
With primary ROM set to v2.92, with system powered off, via ILO webpage, flashed ROM again using "P89_2.92_11_23_2021.signed.flash", powered back on
- No change

Re: Query: DL380 G9 no logos/checkboxes during post, no RAID boot
Greetings!
Please test the system in minimum hardware configuration.
i.e. with single processor + single DIMM module without any add-on cards/risers and cables disconnected from the HDD backplane.
If the issue resolves, please add one part at a time to further narrow down.
If the issue persists in minimum configuration, see if you can replace the CMOS battery and check.
If the issue continues then I would advise you to open a support case to investigate this further.

Re: DL380 G9 no logos/checkboxes during post, no RAID boot
Ive come accross this also just recently. I havent done much more with the server. I picked up second hand/NewStock very cheap and thought there must be something wrong with it. I also notice that it doesnt have a HPE logo on the front right rack ear as per my other g9's im thinking this maybe a chasis that HPE would sell to a third party to whitelabel. Like the old cisco UCS servers etc. This server has a motorola sticker on the top.
