DL380 Gen10 + Nvidia RTX 3070 possible?

Hi,

is it possible to install a Nvidia RTX 3070 on the DL380 Gen10 Mainboard?

Since the RTX3070 needs 2x 8 pin power connectors, where would I connect both of them?

Is there anything more i need in addition to this:

1x HPE GPU 2x 8-Pin cable kit - P03849-B21
1x HPE DL Gen10 x16/x16 GPU Riser kit - 826704-B21

The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Server's QuickSpecs show that as part of core options, the HPE NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000, HPE NVIDIA Quadro RTX 6000, HPE NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000, with R1F95C, R0Z45C, R1F97C respectively the part numbers for them, are supported.

Nvidia RTX 3070 has not been specifically mentioned in the list. This would mean that only those listed have been tested on this model server and the one in question has not been.

Based on this, it could be taken that it is not officially tested, but any PCIe card installed would work on the slot though when installed with the appropriate power cable kit. However, it may not be properly recognized by iLO which takes cares of the devices monitoring and cooling inside the server. This might result in a rare situation where the fans may be turned to full speed causing lot of noise!!

Have you eventually tried it? How did things go?

What exact model/manufacturer did you install?

Is there enough space in the server so the GPU card fits in physically?

What about the heat dissipation?

I'd appreciate you sharing your experiences.
