DL380 GEN10 s100i no nvme disks found
On a DL380 GEN10 Smart Array S100i SR GEN10 does not detect NVME drives. ; the drives are detected in BOOT-OPTIONS. But i can´t create a Raid array.
All Firmware updates installed;
Software Raid is enabled.
I didn´t find any working solution in several forums/support sites.
Thanks in advance.

Re: DL380 GEN10 s100i no nvme disks found
Dear dosser66
When an HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 is enabled on a server and RAID mode is disabled in the UEFI System Utilities, then the drives are listed as AHCI drives or HPE H220i drives and the RAID controller is not found in POST or device manager. When RAID mode is enabled, the drives appear as HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 drives.
Action
- Reboot the server.
- Access UEFI System Utilities by pressing F9 (System Utilities) during POST.
- Select System Configuration > BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) > Storage Options > SATA Controller Options > Embedded SATA Configuration > Smart Array SW RAID Support and press the Enter key.
- In the SATA Controller Options screen, for the Embedded SATA configuration option, select Smart Array SW RAID Support from the drop-down menu and click OK.
If you see the warning Important: Smart Array SW RAID is not supported when the Boot Mode is configured in Legacy BIOS Mode, click OK.
- Press F12: Save and Exit.
- To save changes, click Yes-Save Changes.
- Click Reboot
Hope it will resolved your issues.
Thanks & Regards...
Rabindra

Re: DL380 GEN10 s100i no nvme disks found
Hello @rabindra11sharm
Thats exactly what i set in the controller config.
Nevertheless the controller says "no physikal drives deteceted"
What i´m wondring about is, each NVMe-drive ist detected as separate controller / backplane. -see screenshots

Re: DL380 GEN10 s100i no nvme disks found
Dear dosser66
As you know that you are using S100i onboard controller in your system, and supported only software RAID, but your HDDs are NVMS SSD drive. These drives are designed for very high performance. So it need some special configuration for proper usses. S100i is not support NVMEs. you have to install broadcom Megaraid MR416i controller, to support NVMEs. Also need performence FAN modules as NVME requairements. document attached for reference. HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Server .
hope it will help to understand your requairments for useing NVME disks. for any quary you can reach us again. if you are satisfied with this answar then please mark as solution provided.
Thanks & Regards...

Re: DL380 GEN10 s100i no nvme disks found
Hello,
Please refer to the QuickSpecs of "HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 Software RAID". Here, it details about SATA drive and does not mention about NVME drives.
Not sure, if this controller recognizes NVME drives.
