DL380 Gen8 Ignores F5
We are running ESXi 6.5 on Proliant DL380 Gen8 system.
We need to get into the Smart Storage Administrator (SSA) to configure the storage array. We want to configure the spare drive.
During boot up, pressing F5 is ignored and the system boots to the OS.
Sometimes we would actually see that the system detects that F5 was pressed but the system will still boot up to the OS.
If we Press F10 to try and access SSA that way, the system will also just boot up to the OS.
Anyone see this issue before?
What can I do to resolve this issue?

Hello,
Please update the server with the latest Bios and SA controller firmware after that follow the below steps.
Launching HPE SSA with Intelligent Provisioning (Gen8 or later)
1. Boot the server.
2. Press F10 to launch Intelligent Provisioning.
3. At the main screen, select Perform Maintenance.
4. At the Maintenance screen, select HPE Smart Storage Administrator (SSA).
The system launches the HPE SSA GUI.
Launching HPE SSA during POST (Gen8 or later)
For Gen8 servers:
1. Boot the server.
During POST, the system recognizes devices.
2. When the system recognizes a Smart Array controller, press F5.
The system launches the HPE SSA GUI, or if you are using Serial Console, the system launches the
HPE SSA CLI.

Re: DL380 Gen8 Ignores F5
Better check this:
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-a00048622en_us
If you have the NAND issue, Intelligent Provisioning does not work, hence you cannot start the SSA tools.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
