DL380G2 / AIT 50 Tape Problem
The drive is recognized by Windows 2000 and shows up in removable storage. StorageWorks Tape Tools sees the drive without any errors (as an SDX-500C).
However, neither NTBackup nor Veritas BackupExec 8.6 will work. I get errors indicating timeout problems or unknown functions being executed. In event viewer, there are cpqcissm errors indicating controller driver erros at \device\tape0\cpqcissm2.
The firmware on the drive is 1.38; the drivers are up-to-date, and the firmware and drivers for the 5302 are up-to-date.
Yet, the device is not working. I'm about to put the DAT 20/40 back in the server.
Help, please. Thanks.

2. Manualy uninstall and reinstall Tape Drive in Device Manager, and manualy put the newest drivers for Tape drive.

Re: DL380G2 / AIT 50 Tape Problem
you can also do some diagnostic testing.

Re: DL380G2 / AIT 50 Tape Problem
I am not able to get L&TT to work either. The error messages are "the semaphore timeout period has expired" followed by "I/O bus reset".

Re: DL380G2 / AIT 50 Tape Problem
Try the HP native driver kit. This supports the AIT50 and AIT100 units and may help resolve your issue.

I hope this helps.

Re: DL380G2 / AIT 50 Tape Problem
I did try the native driver kit as suggested (the driver is old, but recognized). Still no dice. The drive just won't read or write without errors. I was convinced it was a driver problem, but now I'm not so certain. L&TT won't work with the driver either, and I spoke with HP/Compaq who said that L&TT has its own drivers.
I'm thinking maybe a bad drive? Bad tape?
Has anyone ever got this to work?
