DL380G3 - 2nd CPU issue? Server not really booting ...

Hi there!

I've got a problem that drives me insane. I want to add another CPU to my DL380G3 - bought one with exactly the same chip, FSB, L2/L3 Cache ... and so on. I bought a second VRM module, too (same P/N as the one that's already in the server).

When I start the server, first everything looks ok, then the fans start speeding up, then the server switches off. After a delay from about 15 seconds the procedure start over again.
On the mainboard there's a organge LED on then, I guess it's C51 (will look again when I'm back home).

When I remove the 2nd CPU and VRM the server starts as usual. What am I doing wrong? I also tried another 2nd cpu to be sure, that one isn't broken or something.

Any hints and tips a greatly appreciated! I'll provide any information you might request.

Kind regards,
S. Simon

Hi,

it's CR55 which's turning red.
I disabled the thermal shutdown, too.
