DL380G4 with 4x1GB not booting
Ordered 4x1GB modules from eBay, and the seller claims they work on the DL380G4, and they do, but only with 2x1GB at the tame. Installed in Bank A 1&2 (works) and Bank B 3&4 (don't work). It's two pairs of 2x1GB each. When I install all the modules the server don't boot up. No BIOS. With one pair it works.
This is my first real server, so haven't configured anything in the BIOS or anything. Have managed to install VMWare ESXi tho, with only 2GB of RAM.

Did you check the configuration guide:

Re: DL380G4 with 4x1GB not booting
I've inserted 4 identical DIMMs into bank A and B. They work with either two of them in bank A. Online spare is not configured.
If I insert two DIMMs in bank A, one in B and one in C, the system boots, but logicly gives an error.

Re: DL380G4 with 4x1GB not booting
Install only PC2-3200 Registered DDR-2 SDRAM DIMMs, 1.8 volts, 72 bits wide, and ECC.
Is that the kind you have?
Tried to upgrade firmware and clear NVRAM?

Re: DL380G4 with 4x1GB not booting
Tried to clear the NVRAM by BIOS with 2x1GB installed, and by the switch on the motherboard with 4x1GB installed - no luck.
If bank B is broken, shouldn't it give an error?

Re: DL380G4 with 4x1GB not booting
Would be nice I guess if it did give an error. But it seems to be located to that bank anyway - I mean you have taken the DIMMs you first put in Bank B and they work alone in Bank A right?
Does the server see both CPUs?

Re: DL380G4 with 4x1GB not booting
Yes, the memory from bank B works well in bank A alone. And it sees all CPUs.

Re: DL380G4 with 4x1GB not booting
You can use the Firmware DVD to update firmware as well:
