I’m very newbie in HPE server world.
We currently have HP DL380 Gen 10, with 1 RAID 5 array with 4 SATA SSD Drive.
One of the drive is on failure state this morning
Those 4 drives are HPE 480GB SATA 6G MU SFF SC DS SSD
Current Part Numbers:
Option Part# 872344-B21
SmartBuy Part# 872344-S21
Spare Part# 872518-001
Assembly Part# 866614-002
Some distributors said that this SSD Drive is discontinued.
One said that I should use P21088-001 (but 4-6 weeks delivery time).
I could not afford that long time.
What we have here in my country readily is P18432-B21
Which one should I choose to replace 1 out of 4, failed drive?
I hope that it can automatically rebuild the array, as we don’t have the whole backup yet
How should I know the replacement part number that is compatible to my array?
I cannot find that easily on the internet.
Thank you so much for your help

SolutionHello,
There is no reason you can't use a different model drive in the same array. Just know that if you use different capacities/speeds in the same array, all drives in that array will operate the same as the smallest/slowest in the array.
P18432-B21 is a perfectly good substitute for 872344-B21.

Re: DL380Gen10 SSD Failure on RAID5. Can I use different part number to rebuild array?
It such a relief that you can use a different part number. Your explanation is very helpful!
The next step is just remove the failed drive, replace with the new drive and it automatically rebuilds the array right?
No other step? (Like opening the SSA?)
Can I do it while turned on?
Have a nice day! Thanks again!
