Is there any way to disable RAID controller and present disks directly to operating system to use zfs .?
Make and model : DL380P GEN 8 ( staging servers)
OS planning to use : Proxmox
Disabling raid through PCIe conf didn't help as disk indicators stopped functioning. Some old posts also says DL380P works in RAID only mode.
Please someone clarify in detail.

SolutionTo configure your HPE ProLiant DL380p Gen8 server for non-RAID disk access to use ZFS with Proxmox, you can utilize the HPE Smart Array controllers in HBA mode. This mode allows the disks to be presented directly to the operating system without RAID configuration, which is suitable for ZFS that manages disk redundancy independently. However, it's important to note that not all Smart Array controllers may support HBA mode directly. If your current controller does not support this mode, you might need to consider using a different HPE controller model that supports HBA mode or non-RAID configurations. Additionally, ensure that your server's firmware is updated to the latest version to avoid any compatibility issues with newer controllers or operating system features.
