DL385 expected temperatures
Further to a previous post, my DL385 (twin Dualcore Opteron 1.8Ghz, 4Gb, 4 hard disks, single PSU, standard fan selection) is in a rack enclosure with other servers.
I see the following temperatures recorded, and seek guidance on whether these are 'normal' levels. I realise many factors contribute, but would appreciate 'rule-of-thumb' comments.
The server is not really being 'used' at present (for other servers I have noticed temperature increase when heavily used).
1:CPU - 54
2:IO Board - 46
3:CPU 53
4:CPU 37
5:Power Supply 37
Do these temps seem 'reasonable' or is it running a bit hot? I added the second CPU but no more fans; should I add another fan?
I do have an 'old' (non HP) server in the rack which produces quite a lot of heat and will be retired soon...
I notice the DL385 sometimes increases fan noise (presumably running faster) and then reduces to the normal level. However, I have never seen anything in the System Management to indicate it's uncomfortably hot.
Thanks for any comments on this rather rambling post!
Clive
