DL385 G5p Firmware issue on P400i

Hi, installed a DL385 G5p with four 300GB/10K drives. After Firmware Update of the P400i controller to version 7.08, the controller shows the message "1770-Slot0 Drive Array - Drive Firmware Update Recommended" >> the drives needs minimum the Firmware NHPD. The newest FW for the drives(DG0300FAMWN) is HPDC. After downgrade the controller to FW 5.26c no error message appears. Any hints or advises?! Regards Uli Böhm

Hi.

This issue is also shown in some other servers like the DL365 G5. The reason seems to be these type of servers do not support any other firmware rather than HPDC/15-07-2008.

Well, we have installed 3 additional DL385 G5p with 146GB / 10K drives. There were no error message after updating the P400i controller to FW 7.08. The 146GB drives (EG0146FARTR) have Firmware HPD5, works fine with controller FW 7.08. Only the 300GB drives together with controller FW 7.08 have the issue. All the 300GB drive are DG0300FAMWN, so we couldn´t check if another type (DG0300BALVP) works fine with the latest controller Firmware.

stick with 5xxx firmware if you have no issues ,,7xx firmware is buggy ,
wait for next release,

I had the same problems today. I tested other models (DG0300BAHZQ, DG0300BALVP, EG0300FARTT) and they don't seem to have this problem. Everything worked fine with them, only one caausing problems was the DG0300FAMWN.

I had 2 of the DG0300FAMWN drives, both had the latest HPDD Firmware but the "Drive Firmware Update Recommended" message is still showing.

The message appeared after we did the upgrade to 7.08. There were no problems with V6.86.

We have same problem, our configuration is:

DL380 G5
Windows Server 2008 x64
P400i with firmware 7.08

cp012169.exe from April 6, 2010 DOES NOT fix the issue, downloaded from:

Any word on when we'll see a fix? Any work arounds to clear this error so we don't see it upon boot up every time?

I tested some of the affected drives with other servers and a P410 and I didn't get any error messages on them.

The only workaround I know so far is to downgrade the controller firmware to v6.86 or wait for a fix :(

I have the same thing on my DL380 G5..I updated the disk firmware to HPDD and did not work.

New version of P400 v7.18 is fixed the issue of the HD => DG0300FAMW. I have downloaded the P400 v7.18 from here
