DL560 R1 memory pains
I have a DL560R01, server part number is B46639-002.
Im trying to get it specced up for 6x 2Gb DIMMS, however there is a great deal of confusion about the RAM part numbers. My supplier has sent me 300682-B21, but after installing the RAM it fires up an error message on POST - 207 - insufficient timings on DIMM in socket 1a and 2a.
I notice that the 1Gb DIMMS that the server is currently running on is CL2 RAM and the upgrade DIMMS are CL2.5
I am fairly sure that the RAM I Am after for this particular job is part number 300702-001
Can anyone confirm? There is a great deal of confusion between suppliers/HP about this!
Cheers in advance
JOn

Re: DL560 R1 memory pains
Im trying to find out if this error 207 is something I am doing wrong or if my supplier has sent me the wrong RAM.
If they have sent me the wrong RAM, is 300680-B21 going to work?
argh its doing my head in.

Re: DL560 R1 memory pains
The option number for 300702-001 seems to be 301044-b21.
but the HP site doesnt give a list of supported models.
apologies for the error. My brain is fried.

Re: DL560 R1 memory pains
The server works fine with 2x 2Gb DDR CL2.5 ECC RAM in. (this is one kit 300682-b21)
however the other kit, which has the same part number, is actually 2x 2GB DDR 266 ***CL2* ECC RAM*** according the the little infineon sticker on the dimms themselves.
If i try and start the server up with the latter, I dont get a POST. If I start it up with all 4 DIMMS, I get the speed error.
It looks to me that although these DIMMS share the same HP sticker, the description on the modules themselves are different....
