DL580 G5 Processor Upgrade
Gents,
I know you have probably heard this before in other post but i am looking for a specific yes or now anwser if at all possible.
I have just brought a DL580 G5 with the model number 418315-421. I has Dual, Dual Core Processors in it. The vendor of the software which will be running on the box has now instructed me that they recommend dual, quad core 5355's processor instead.
Would this be just a simple case of swaping out the processors for this specific which i have already brought.
i.e. Will the socket and chip set support this?
Many Thanks for you time.
Carl Taylor

Re: DL580 G5 Processor Upgrade
Hi, 418315-421 model uses system board: 407749-001, which supports Intel Xeon 50xx and 51xx processors.
For quad-core (Xeon 53xx) you need 436526-001 motherboard.
