DL580 G5 with G7 PCI power cord - will it work
I need to add XEONPHI 31s1p1 PCI card on DL580 G5. This machine has 4 cpus, 128G memory and 8 SAS drives - i.e. one controller, 4 power supplies. It has one PSU power connector unused, i.e. the SAS power connector and i am planning to use PCI graphics power cord from G7 and plug it into this connector and then use it to deliver power (300W) to the accelerator card. Will this work and if not what would be the problem?
I am really planning to use this machine as host and power supply for the XEONPHI card so any power redundancy issue is not an issue. Cannot plug the XEONPHI on workstation as it needs the air flow server can provide.
