DL580 processor
I have a pair of DL580 servers, both have two processors.
I have installed the third processor and didn´t run when I boot the system, in the screen appear "Processor unsupported the system is halted"
Both of the processor are Pentium III, Xeon, 1 Mb cache, 700 Mhz.
thanks

Re: DL580 processor
Whenever "unsupported Processor " message appears it indicates that the Servers BIOS does not support the Processors(s) installed. The additional Processor cannot be the same as the originals or the message would not have appeared. The DL580 does not support mixing Processor speeds so you have 2 choices. Leave out third Processor or update the BIOS to the latest version then remove the original two Processors and install the new one.

Re: DL580 processor
The speed and cache memory are the same in the third processor, the difference into the processor is a small code.
The difference into the procesor is a small code is located in the bottom of the processor. the code that is running is SL49Q, whereas in the new processor the code is SL4XV.
I have seen in a document of Intel the differences into the two processors is the processor substrate revision.
At this moment the server is running only
