Hi,
I need to perform a repair on Windows 2003 SP1 on a DL580G2 with RAID 5 drives.
I boot on the CD and choose to reinstall. Windows starts a repair.
But at "34 minutes left" Windows will BSOD on "cpqasm2.sys".
This is a known problem on a version of the driver (cf Microsoft KB).
The problem is that I don't know how to provide the correct version.
My question : how can I provide (non-disk) drivers to be used during a Widnows repair installation?
Thanks,
--Richard.

Solution
hello
try this
Recovery Console must be used to recover the server by deleting the CPQASM2.SYS file. Recover the server by performing the following steps:
1. Reboot the system.
2. Press a key when prompted to boot from the Windows installation CD.
The following message will be displayed:
This computer is already in the process of being upgraded to Microsoft Windows. What do you want to do?
- To continue the current upgrade, press ENTER.
- To cancel the current upgrade and install new version of Microsoft Windows, press F10
- To exit Setup without installing Microsoft Windows, press F3.
3. Press F10 to restart text-mode setup. (This will not cancel the upgrade unless the process proceeds to the point where the hard drive is partitioned, formatted, and files are copied to it.)
Text-mode setup will begin and will display the following message:
This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft (R) Windows (R) to run on your computer.
- To set up Windows now, press ENTER.
- To repair a Windows installation using Recovery Console, press R.
- To quit Setup without installing Windows, press F3.
4. Press R to launch Recovery Console.
5. Log into the Windows installation that is being upgraded.
6. Delete the CPQASM2.SYS file from the SYSTEM32\DRIVERS subdirectory of the Windows installation.
7. Exit from Recovery Console using the "exit" command. (This will reboot the system, and Windows Setup will resume the graphics-mode portion of the upgrade process. The upgrade will complete normally.)
8. After the upgrade is complete, reinstall version 5.35.0.0 of the CPQASM2.SYS driver downloading driver or using proliant support pack which is the best recommendation
after delete that file continue with windows installation
regards

Re: DL580G2 Windows repair fails on cpqasm2.sys
Karlo,
Your answer was right on target !
I tried before to enter the recovery console but failed because of a strange KVM problem...
Thanks again
