DL585 Memory Config
System type : Generic NUMA System
# NUMA Nodes : 4
Total memory : 16384 MB
Node ID MachineMem ManagedMem CPUs
0 01 2048 MB 1207 MB 0 1
1 02 2048 MB 1879 MB 2 3
2 03 4096 MB 4096 MB 4 5
3 04 8192 MB 8103 MB 6 7
Node 0 and 1 have the PC3200 DIMMs that shipped with the server (2x1GB). Node 3 and 4 are running PC2700 memory (2x2GB and 4x2GB respectively). The server has run fine for about 2 months, last week ESX crashed and started complaining that there were different amounts of DIMMs on the Nodes. I know that different amounts of memory is supported on different Nodes, but is different speed memory supported in 1 server? Also would I be able to run PC2700 memory in Node 0 and 1 instead of the current PC3200?
Many thanks
Evan

Re: DL585 Memory Config
First thing i let you knwo that on PC2-5300 memories support on this server. And bydefault only PC2-5300 shipped with new server. So please check with PC2-5300 memory. And if you are using PC2700 or 3200 that will work but intermittently server gives problem.

Re: DL585 Memory Config
Please have a look at the attached document which might help you identify your installed memory/cpu card assemblies and confirm the possible and supported configurations.
I hope this helps.

Re: DL585 Memory Config
Thanks for this, it is very useful. But it still does not tell me if I can use PC2700 on the Node 0 and 1 PC3200 boards.

Re: DL585 Memory Config
According to the document I sent you the only pre-requisite for PC2700 memory is that the CPU/Memory card assembly has to be revision -002.
This should mean that assemblies.....
011974-002
011974-003
will support it.
Is this what you were after?

Re: DL585 Memory Config
Thanas again. I have now had it confirmed by HP that you cannot run PC2700 and PC3200 memory in the same server. I will have to swop out one of the memory types to make the server supportable.
Regards
Evan
